Proofreading your own work is a sure-fire way to miss that one life-saving typo. Our brains get too accustomed to our own writing, and they stop breaking the work down into its component parts. Most of us know this and turn to friends, family members, or co-workers to proofread for us. The result is often a simple "it looks great" or "I really like it." Nice, but not enough.
